Buyer checklist

Choose a cosmetic manufacturer by evidence and fit.

A useful supplier comparison goes beyond a website's product list. Check whether the manufacturer can support your exact format, demonstrate relevant documents and explain the path from sample approval to a repeat order. Use the same brief when speaking to each candidate.

01 / Check the actual product and packaging fit

Name the product, format, fill size and intended pack. Ask which operations are performed at the proposed facility and which depend on other parties. A broad skincare or haircare label does not confirm a particular ingredient combination, miniature bottle or tested performance claim.

Ask whether the project uses an existing formulation, a supplied formula or new development. Identify what the manufacturer needs to assess feasibility and where additional sample or test work may be required.

02 / Review identity, documents and the facility

Match the proposed business and factory details to the documents provided. Read the named company, location, scope and dates; the presence of a certificate thumbnail alone is not enough to establish applicability to your project.

SOUL ARÔME's certifications page provides snapshots of the uploaded ISO certificates, licence grant letter and company registrations. Ask the team about the records relevant to your intended product. Arrange a facility discussion or visit through the contact page when appropriate.

03 / Define sample approval and quality responsibilities

Request a sample against your brief and record its version. Agree which characteristics you will assess, what evidence is supplied and how revisions are handled. Evaluate the pack and dispensing system with the actual formulation.

Discuss how the approved sample becomes the production reference, which batch records accompany delivery and how deviations or complaints are addressed. Clarify responsibilities instead of assuming every manufacturer includes the same tests.

04 / Compare like-for-like quotations

Send identical quantity, formula, fill-size and packaging inputs to each candidate. A lower unit price may reflect different components or excluded work rather than a better total project cost.

Separate one-off development, sampling, testing and setup from recurring unit charges. Ask about component purchase quantities, payment milestones, taxes and freight. Confirm the MOQ per SKU and any commitments that exceed the first batch.

05 / Plan the first batch and the next one

Ask which approvals and components must be ready before a production slot or dispatch schedule is confirmed. Identify the person responsible for artwork, formula sign-off and packaging procurement.

Discuss reorder planning using the same specification and reference sample. Understand what could change the quotation or schedule, including supplier availability or a revised pack. A written record of decisions is more useful than relying on an early informal estimate.

Questions before you enquire.

Should I choose the lowest manufacturing quote?

First check whether formulation, quantities, packaging, testing and exclusions match. Compare total project scope as well as unit price.

Which manufacturer documents should I ask for?

Ask for current identity, facility and product-relevant documentation, and have applicable legal or regulatory requirements reviewed by a qualified adviser. A universal legal checklist is outside this buyer guide.

Ready to discuss a product?

Share the product, quantity per SKU, formulation route and packaging preferences. A manufacturing quotation is separate from paid brand consultation.
